Finding the law

FindlawNZ LogoYou know it’s an increasingly online world when the  name of a search engine becomes a verb in everyday use.

What do you do when you want to find out something quickly? Yes, you ‘google’ it.

We know from 2009 research, conducted by the Institute of Culture and Auckland University of Technology, approximately five sixths of New Zealanders use the internet regularly. They’re playing games, listening to music, buying things, banking and increasingly, researching. Up to two thirds of the 1250 people interviewed stated the internet was as an important source of information. For many it is their primary one.

How does that impact on legal information

Online research tools tell us that in the past month (August) 720 people in New Zealand wanted to know about ‘employers rights’. 8,100 used the query ‘redundancy’, 880 checked ‘health and safety’ while 1,300 investigated ‘children’s rights’.

‘Googling, Yahooing or Binging’ is only ever going to get more popular; more embedded in our daily lives.

Enter FindLawNZ

FindLaw NZ is our latest online addition offering legal advice to the growing search-savy public alongside a free searchable database of almost 8000 lawyers and 1500 law firms.

Although still in its infancy, our goal is that in time it will grow to become New Zealand’s primary go-to legal reference source on the web.

Select and Match

When people search for basic legal information they will land on FindLaw's pages.  Not only will they find  articles covering the topic they searched for but they'll be able to source a matching legal specialist too.

Opportunities for Law Firms

Should a legal firm want to provide more than entry level information name, address, contact details and area(s) of speciality they may increase their visibility through sponsoring a particular page and providing expert content in the ‘Top Spots’. There are other opportunities too.
