Practical Law Tip - Adding annotations to a document
Practical Law Australia allows you to add a note either:
- To the top of a document, or
- Inline alongside a particular paragraph or clause.
Notes can be for your own reference, or to share information with colleagues. For example, you may wish to remind a colleague or team of colleagues that your organisation always inserts a particular set of special conditions into this type of contract or agreement.
To add a note at the top of the page, click on the New Annotation button from the delivery icons on the right of the screen. You will be prompted to add your text, and have the option to share the note with colleagues within your organisation who also have access to Practical Law via OnePass.
To add a note alongside a particular paragraph or clause, highlight the relevant text and select the option to Add a Note. You can also colour code these notes, save the text to a folder, or add highlighting without an annotation. Again, you are given the option to share this note with a colleague or group of colleagues who have access to Practical Law.
Your notes will appear on the document next time you view it. When viewing a list of available documents, you will also see the Note icon appear next to the document name to indicate that the document has been annotated.
