The NewsRoom product on the Thomson Reuters Westlaw, Westlaw AU and Westlaw NZ platforms includes licensed news content from the Australian Financial Review (AFR) daily newspaper. 

Recently, the owner of AFR, Fairfax Media, has decided to enforce a three day embargo on their licensed content. We have worked hard to ensure we can retain this content in our services which we have been successful in, however unfortunately we are now limited by this new embargo. As a result, going forward AFR content will appear in Westlaw three days after its publication in the AFR. The change will take effect from 1 March 2020. 

Please note that this change is not unique to services from Thomson Reuters, other news aggregators are similarly impacted. 

We can advise that the AFR archive is not affected and you will still be able to access AFR content from 1987 if your subscription includes NewsRoom. All other content published by Fairfax Media is not affected by this embargo. 

The NewsRoom subscription will continue to provide access to more than 11,000 news and business information resources including newspapers, newswires, and magazines across the world.
